Len's ancestors on his Mother's side were, generally speaking, from the Old Churchstoke, Hurdley, Hyssington area and walked the lanes and worked the fields and mines for as far back as I can trace. Their names were Simmons, Ruscoe and Yapp. His ancestors on his father's side come from the Lydbury North, Kempton, Clun, Bishop's Castle area with earlier ties to South Wales. Mary's ancestors on her father's side worked their way across the country from Warwickshire, through Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and ended up in Shropshire. Her ancestors on her mother's side were firmly established in the local Edgton, Wistanstow, Stretton areas. Both Len and Mary's forebears were agricultural workers in the main, with some woodsmen, carpenters and stone masons thrown into the mix.
